Box Opening and first look at the Platypus Gravityworks water filter system.
For our trip to Alaska we plan to do a lot of boondocking. We purchased two 6 gallon water jugs to store fresh water and our Winnebago has a fresh water tank. So we should have plenty of fresh drinking water. Just in case we aren’t near fresh water we bought a Platypus gravityworks 4 liter water filter. We searched the internet and read a ton of reviews and this is the best one we found for what we need. With it we can safely drink lake or river water. It is great for backpacking because you don’t need to carry a lot of water with you, you can just drink the water that is available. Here is the affiliate link to the one we purchased. There is also a smaller one that holds 2 liters, but with 7 of us we thought the larger one would be better. The reviews we read put this one at the top of our list because of filtration ability, size, weigh, speed of filtration, and because it is self-contained and there is no pumping involved. Some others need to be pumped, some need big bulky containers to hold the water and some are very slow to filter. We haven’t tested it yet, so we’ll do a review later. So far I am impressed with it. Some people weren’t happy with the water bladders, but they seem very thick and durable and I don’t see that we’ll have any issues.
So we are only 9 days away from moving into the Winnebago. It’s coming fast and we have a lot of work to do to move all our belongings that we are taking on our trip. The hardest part is deciding what to bring and making sure we don’t forget anything. The second hardest part will be getting it all to fit. We can’t wait for our Alaska adventure, We hope you enjoy watching it as much as we enjoy experiencing it.
