How to change or replace the water filter housing when it is leaking.
When I found out that water filter housing was leaking, I wasn’t sure what to do. Should I call a plumber or should I call the water filter professional who set up my water filtration system? If so, I would probably have to wait for at least a few hours or even days for them to come over and that means that I wouldn’t be able to use any water in the house (I probably have to turn off the main valve to prevent the continuous leaking of the water).
So I thought, may be I can do it. I recorded it for my own future reference. Initially I tried using a tape to close the leak but it didn’t help. I thought about using silicon but it looked like the crack was getting bigger by minutes. So my only choice was to change the whole plastic housing.
The company that sold me the system is located in Santa Ana (Isopure Water). I called them, and they said they have the water filter housing in stock and I am welcome to go over anytime to pick it up.
I used the special wrench provided to me to open the housing. And apparently the filter inside was really dirty. I brought that whole thing over to their office and bought a new one. Came home, re-installed the housing and now there’s no leak and I was able to use water in my home without having to wait for a plumber.
